Dhanushkodi Haunted Place in India

Dhanushkodi or Danushkoid is a small town on the eastern coast of Indian State Tamil Nadu, often credited as Ghost City as it had to face human- caused disasters: cyclone in 1964 which left this town for nothing. As per official report, 1800 people died in this cyclone and made damage to many towers and buildings. High Tide made this town marooned in its storm; a strong wave entered this island and cleaned out the whole town. After the disaster, Madras government declared it Ghost town as it had become unfit for living.

This cyclone also smashed up Pamban railway station of the area; and a passenger train carrying 100 passengers also gone under in the Sea in this dreadful cyclone. According to local fishermen, the place has many ghosts and spirits; though any paranormal thing is not reported in the place but ruined buildings and bats give it unique place among the haunted places in India In the present day, Dhanushkodi is counted among the tourist places in India as many people visit the place to see this ruined town. Bhangarh Haunted Place in India

Bhangarh, sometimes referred to as ‘Ghost Town’ is the most popular historical ruins in India which is always known for historical buildings, castles and of course its haunted places. It is a place falls at the midpoint of Jaipur and Alwar, two major cities in the state of Rajasthan. Bhangarh is one of the most popular haunted places in the World comes under the Rajgarh municipality of the Alwar district in the India state of Rajasthan. This pre-historic site is also the popular tourist destination in Rajasthan, as the place is coupled with many historical events; Bhangarh Fort was constructed by ruler Bhagwant Das in 1573 that later served as residence of his son Madho Singh, the younger brother of Great Emperor Akbar’s  general Man Singh 1.

Stories behind, Why Bhangarh Fort is counted among the top haunted Places in India?
It is true that Bhangarh is among the scariest places in India as there are many stories behind this fort which make it most haunted places in India. Bhangarh is always been land of undiscovered mystery because of paranormal behavior felt by many visitors and tourist coming over here. After the nadir of Mughal Empire, Bhangarh gradually started beg to be excused as death of its ruler Chhatr Singh had left the palace in cry off condition, and later on the famine of 1783 made people to move around form the place. Since then the place has to be uninhabited. According to local stories, the place is cursed by a wizard called Singhia who used to practices Kala Jadoo (dark arts, black magic); he was in love with gorgeous princess Ratnawati of Bhangarh. To grab the love of Ratnawati, Singhia added a liquid of love to a bowl of oil belonged to the princess. But princess Ratnawati came to know all this, and threw the oil bowl on a wall which collapsed and buried Singhia, and dying Singhia cursed the kingdom of Bhangarh saying that the Kingdom would be wiped out overnight and would never be inhabit again. Just after the death Singhia the kingdom had to face war from neighboring kingdom of Ajabgarh where whole kingdom got destroy and since then legend says there are ghosts in Bhangarh and many tourist and local villages have been witnessed of many supernatural incidents.
Other story says, Bhangarh was cursed by the Guru Balu. He had allowed construction of the town in one condition, “the shadow of palaces should not touch me, the city shall be no more”.  But prince of Bhangarh raises the palace to height that casts shadow on Balu Nath’s and he curses the place to be destroyed.
Today, Bhangarh is the most haunted place in Rajasthan as many paranormal activities have been observed in the place at night by many visitors. No one is allowed to enter to place after sunset and before sunrise many people tried after sun set but never found again. To make the tourist aware, The Archeological Survey of Indian Government has setup the board here mentioning the warning that includes entering the borders of Bhangarh before sunrise and after sunset is strictly prohibited. Shepherd and woodcutters who enter Bhangarh area will face legal action. The trees of Kewda and Pandanus trees of Bhangarh are is property of ASI (Archeological Survey of India); any harm to trees will be illegal. The fort has four gateways called Ajmeri Gate, Lahori Gate, Hanuman Phool Bari and Delhi Gate.

Things to keep in Mind while entering Bhangarh Territory
There is no petrol pump in Bhangarh and it’s near by area so keep enough petrol in your vehicle. Always keep torch or light with yourself because of no arrangement of electricity in the area. Carry food as there are hardly couples of dhabas and restaurants in Bhangarh region. Timings for the Bhangarh fort are 6 am to 6pm all days of the week.

Being the top haunted place in India, Bhangarh still receives numbers of visitors every day. It is linked with National Highway number 11A and just 86 Km from Alwar. The easiest way to reach Bhangarh is Delhi form where it is located at the distance of 300 Km and one can follow the route from Delhi to Bhangarh by following Delhi-Gurgaon-Bhiwadi-Alwar-Sariska-Thanagazhi-Pratapgarh-Ajabgarh-Bhangarh.
