Kovalam is an internationally renowned beach town near the Arabian sea in Thiruvananthapuram city, Kerala, India. The word, Kovalam came from a grove of coconut trees which are commonly spotted here. The place is famous for its Halcyon Castle, a beach resort built by Maharani Sethu Lakshmi Bayi of Travancore in the 1920s. It is among the top places to visit in India, and the frequent visit of hippies has made the place one of the choices of European guests.

The Koyikkal Palace: It is other major tourist attraction in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala. The palace was built for Umayamma Rani of the Venad royal family. Now it is converted into folklore museum and numismatics museum which is run by the Department of Archaeology, India.
