The Street foods that Classify Kolkata

Being served as capital of an exquisite Indian state West Bengal, Kolkata is located on the bank of Hooghly River. It is said that if you want to explore Kolkata, don’t do anything just attend the Durga pooja at navratras, taste street food and roam over its Howrah Bridge.
Kolkata is always considered the cultural capital of India, and one can have its sight in the street food of Kolkata. Here are the few finger licking street foods of Kolkata that are quite famous all across the world. Your visit to Kolkata is partial until you enjoy its street food.


Mishti Doi (Sweetened Yoghurt)
It is a sweet fermented yogurt made of milk and sugar. It is one of the famous Bengali sweet which you can get at every sweet shop of Kolkata. It is usually served as dessert in earthen pots that soak water and leaves the rich and sweetness to devour. Though it’s simple Bengali sweet yet possess a strong place among the Bengali food.


Kathi Roll

Kathi roll is a chapatti or prantha that is stuffed with juicy mutton kebabs, fried egg, and fried chicken pieces. It is one of the most famous street foods in Kolkata people take pleasure in. don’t worry if you are vegetarian. Cheese stuffed kathi roll is also available for vegetarian people.


Bhelpuri

It is one of the most popular street food in the Kolkata that is made from the mixture of puffed rice, crushed papro, chopped potato, onions, sev and coriander leaf. Generally this is served in a cone of newspaper but at standard restaurant or shop you can get it on bowl or other container. Bhelpuri is always accompaniment with tamarind chutney.
 
Telebhaja
It is just like pakora. You can get telebhaja venders across every
local street of the Kolkata. Vegetables are done fried in a batter made of gram flour and served tomato sauce and mint chutney.



Chhanar Jilipi

It is just like sponzy Gulab Jamun, a most common sweet made of cottage cheese. It quite soft to eat, every Bengali sweet shops make it. The best desert after the night meal in Kolkata.

Puchka

Puchka
This is what every women love to eat, you would rarely found the girl in Kolkata who doesn’t like it. Pachuka is a successor of Pani Puri or golgappa family. It comes in a various varieties as per the stuff put inside it. These are crispy balls made of suzi or gram flour. Generally, phuchka is stuffed withmashed potatoes, mixed with seasonings. It is dipped in tamarind water. Sometimes Phucka is given the toppings of yoghurt, called dahi or doi phuchka/


Ghugni
This Bengali dish is made of yellow dried peas. First, all the peas are
boiled then tossed with green coriander, onion chilies, tomatoes and tamarind water, little bit coconut is also used to give it flavor. All the ingredients are seasoned with homemade spice.
