Once served as the residence of Mughal emperor, Red Fort is one of
the historical monuments in India situated in the heart of capital Delhi. Red Fort is
the place where Prime Minister of India hoists the national flag every year on
15th August, (Independence Day of India). Being the prominent historical place in India, Red Fort represents the long history of Mughal dynasty

Red Fort History
History of Red Fort dates back to 1648 when it was setup as capital
fort for fifth Emperor Shah Jahan of Mughal dynasty. The fort is made in Mughal architecture and was architect by Ustad Ahmad Lahuri. It is beautiful complex wall
made of red sandstone, originally known as Qila -I- Mubarak. In 2007, it got chosen
for UNESCO World Heritage site, being the part of Red Fort Complex.

Red Fort is the most visited places to visit in Delhi that attracts thousand of tourist everyday.
The major attraction of the Red Fort is its structure that
consists of walls, gates, chowk, audience halls and imperial apartments. Lahori
Gate is the major entrance for the red fort that faces toward the city of
Lahore and therefore it is called Lahori Gate. On the occasion of Independence Day
prime minister of India flies National Flag from this gate. Delhi Gate is other major attraction in the
fort that is located in south side to the fort also known as southern public
gate. The statues of two life size elephants have been place on either side of
the gate. Water Gate is other gate in Red Fort that has been setup in
southeastern end of the fort. Chhatta Chowk, once it was the old market place
during the Mughal period where silk, house items, and jewelry was sold is also the worth seeing place at Red Fort Delhi. There
is also an archaeological museum inside the palace Zenans which is located in
southernmost pavilions of fort comprises of Mumtaz Mahal and Rang Mahal. Apart from this, Khas Mahal, Diwan-i-khas, Moti Masjid, Hammam,
Shahi Burj are other things that attract every eyes. Red Fort is considered the
ideal place for those who want visit historical places in India.
Red Fort Timings and Ticket Fare
Timings of the Red Fort are morning; 9:30 am to evening 4:30
pm Tuesday to Sunday, Monday remains closed. Entry fee is Rs 10/ for Indian
Citizens, and for foreigners Rs, 150/-. Apart from this, 50 Rs is separately
taken for Sound and Light Show. Red Fort Delhi is located on Netaji Subhas
Marg, Chandni Chowk and is accessible all the medium of transport like bus, auto
rickshaw, train and by air from all parts of the world.
