Auli is the striking small town in the Chamoli district of
Indian State Uttarakhand. It is among the best Skiing destinations in India encircled with very pleasing grasslands.
The place is positioned at high altitude from sea level, approximately 2500 to
3050 meters, offers unusual view of great Himalaya. Auli is bordered by dense
forests of oak and rhododendrons, it falls in the way to Badrinath, a Hindu

There are many
places around the Auli that makes it among the best places to visit in India,
as it is blessed with beauty of nature, beautiful alpine vegetation; lofty
peaks which make it heaven for tourist. Auli is popular hill station in India offering skiing, trekking, trailing and other adventurous sports.
Skiing in Auli
Auli is heaven of skiing lovers and Garhwal Mandal Vikas
Nigam Limited has done better arrangements for it, but sometimes due to bad
weather it comes to an end still it is among ideal tourist places in India. December and January is considered the best time
for skiing in Auli.
Trekking in Auli
Auli is considered the best place for trekking and trailing
too. Trekking can be done from Auli to Gorson which is almost a 7 to 8 K.M, and
Gorson – Tali 6 K.M.
Places to See in Auli
Chattrakund Lake: It is a beautiful lake surrounded with dense
forest. The lake is adjacent to Gurso Bugyal having crystal clear water.
Gurso Bugyal: It
is a grassland where one can reach after trekking 3 Km from Auli, and can have beautiful
view of great Himalya and Nanda Devi park from here that is a unique experience
in it self. During the spring, the whole Bugyal (grassland) turned into green
and gives pleasant feel to eyes, and when winter comes it is become pure white
with snow. The area is encircled with forest of oak trees.
Kwani Bugyal: Kwani
Bugyal is the heaven for trekking lovers situated at the distance of 12 Km from
Gurso Bugyal that can be accessed by trekking easily.
Joshimath: As the
name suggest, it is a “math” established by Aadi guru Shankaracharya. It is
located at the altitude of 1890 meter from the sea label, and cable car is the
only way to reach here from Auli. This cable car is the highest cable car in
Asia.
Tapovan: It is a pilgrim
place dedicated to lord Shiva. There is small beautiful temple that has natural
spring of hot water. It is located just 15 km away from Joshimath.
Vishnu Prayag: It is the convergence of Holy River Ganga and
Alaknada famous pilgrim place of Hindus.
Badrinath: It is a
beautiful temple dedicated to lord Vishnu, a Hindu deity. It is among the four Dhams,
the most pilgrim site of Hindu.
How to Reach Auli
Air: The nearest airport to the Auli is Jolly Grant
that is located in Dehradun at the distance of 286 Km. It is well connected
with capital Delhi with daily flights.
Rail: Rishikesh
is the nearest railway station to the place, located 264 km away that is well
connected with railway network with other major cities in India.
Road: Road is the
best way to reach Auli, as it lies on National highway 58, and well connected
from it’s near by towns and villages. Taxis and state transport buses are
easily available from Rishikesh, Pauri, Karanpryag, Haridwar to Auli.
