Agra is one of the oldest cities in India, once served as
the capital of Hindustan. It is located on the banks of river Yamuna, the
largest tributary river of the Ganges. Agra falls in the region of Uttar
Pradesh, a state in India. It is located at the distance of 363 kilometers from
the state capital Lucknow, and an approximately 200 km from national capital

History of Agra
Agra's history is as long as the history of India. The city is
also mentioned in the epic Mahabharata, the most important Sanskrit epic of ancient
India. The place is documented with Mughal Empire, Agra served as capital of
Mughals. Sultan Sikandar Lodhi, the ruler of Delhi founded this city with the
coming of 1526. Later on, Bābar ruled this place after winning the First battle
of Panipat in 1526. Agra tasted its golden period after the establishment of
Mughal Empire under the emperors like Akbar, Jahangir and Shahjahn. With the coming of 18th century,
the Mughal Empire started falling, and the place came under the possession of
Marathas, and later on under the British Raj.

Taj Mahal: The monument of true Love, It is one of the most
beautiful men made building in the world. Taj Mahal is one of the New Seven

Agra Fort: It is also referred to as ‘Red Fort’. The fort was built by Great Mughal Emperor
Akbar in 1565, the fort is made of red sandstone. It houses a pearl mosque,
Jahangiri Mahal, Diwan-i-Am , Anguri Bagh , Mina Masjid , Musamman Burj ,
Naubat Khana, Shah Jahani Mahal , Shahi Burj
etc. The whole palace is spread over an area of 94 acres, and is best
example of Mughal architecture.
Fatehpur Sikri: It is another monument built by Mughals, located
at the distance of 35 kilometers form Agra. Being listed on World Heritage, the
